Ozioma Anudokem
Class of 2023
Major: Cell and Molecular Biology
Minor: Spanish
There were several instances during college where I was able to use my Spanish skills. I volunteered both with Mujeres Unidas Avanzando as a High School Equivalency Test tutor for Spanish-speaking women and with the Refugee and Immigrant Assistance Center as a Spanish conversation partner. I also worked as a medical scribe for my second co-op, taking notes during appointments where a large percentage of the patients were Spanish speaking. Completing my Spanish minor at Northeastern gave the confidence to both communicate effectively with the people I was speaking with as well as understand the varying backgrounds that they were coming from. In the future, I plan to use the skills I’ve learned to communicate with my future Spanish-speaking patients as a physician.
