Health Science and Spanish, BS

Program Description

The combined Bachelor of Science in Health Science and Spanish integrates the study of the Spanish language with study of the health, illness, and healthcare. Students hone their proficiency in the production and comprehension of the Spanish language and apply this knowledge to explore aspects of Hispanic culture, literature, and history. At the same time, students explore health concepts necessary to address poor health outcomes and the US healthcare system. Students emerge with the transcultural skills and linguistic competence to communicate and practice in the health care field in one of the world’s major languages and with a deep transnational understanding of practices across the two languages. This combined major will appeal to students who want to pursue a career in health care with proficiency in the Spanish language. Students in this major can not additionally complete a Spanish minor.
